Bellydance Superstars - Rachel Brice Workshop 22 May 2005

Wow!  What a fantastic day!  It was such a privilege to host this workshop which was attended by 35 belly dancers from all over the country.  All the places were sold within a week of advertising, such is the reputation of Rachel Brice.  Everyone was very excited to be there, and the atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly.

Rachel, who is the warmest, loveliest person you could ever wish to meet, was accompanied by the very lovely Bellydance Superstar, Sonia - which was a bit of an extra surprise for everyone.

The lesson itself was highly enjoyable and very challenging.  Rachel's "Tribal Fusion" style makes use of her expertise in yoga and we were all thoroughly stretched and worked out before we even began dancing.  The glute stretches and locks raised quite a few smiles, though whether this was because it was a rather strange exercise or simply that everyone was amazed at Rachel's ability to move her glute muscles so independently - her bottom really did appear to have a life of it's own!

After the warm-up she went through some of the Tribal movements she uses, and boy did she work us hard with the drills!  The last hour was spent working on a choreography to Nataraj by Solace, the same choreography used in the show. At the end, she took us through a wonderful stretch and cool down which was wonderfully relaxing and meditative.

And then it was over.  How quickly three hours can fly by when you are having fun in the company of such a fabulous teacher and two Superstars who are so beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.

A big thank you to Rachel for such a wonderful time, a big thank you to Sonia for just being there and a big thank you to everyone who attended - without you it wouldn't have happened.

Below are some photos from the day - if anyone who attended the class would like high resolution copies of any of the photos please email me and I'll get them off to you - there's no charge.
